Background and Challenge
A leading technology platform was tasked with a unique challenge for their two-day analyst event: not only to host it both in-person and online for about 100 attendees, but also to leverage their recently launched events platform and production tools extensively. The event aimed to showcase upcoming products and features for feedback, in preparation for announcement at their annual user conference. The necessity to produce much of the online experience on this new platform required meeting specific engineering and technical requirements to ensure seamless functionality. This demanded high-quality production values to ensure equity in experience for all attendees, while navigating strict technical requirements and a tight production schedule. PixelForge was brought on board for their expertise in delivering a polished, professional event presentation under these complex conditions.
The Process
Understanding the unique challenges of integrating a newly launched platform with traditional event production, PixelForge embarked on a comprehensive discovery process to fully grasp the intricacies of the client's technology. Recognizing the potential conflicts between established production methodologies and the innovative approaches the platform offered, PixelForge prioritized collaboration and communication—particularly in transitioning from a baseband video infrastructure like SDI to an IP-based video protocols like NDI.
The team meticulously assessed how IP video could introduce challenges, such as delay and synchronization issues, which are critical in ensuring a cohesive experience across different attendee modes. This evaluation included considering the different experiences for online attendees, remote presenters, and in-person participants, ensuring that each group received an equitable and engaging event experience.
Working closely with all stakeholders, PixelForge developed tailored solutions that balanced the needs of the technology platform with the event's production goals. This collaborative effort led to innovative approaches to overcome the potential technical hurdles, such as optimizing NDI network configurations and implementing advanced synchronization techniques to manage audio/video delay effectively.
